Recent initiatives and insights

We are thrilled to share some developments and insights from our recent projects that are steering us toward more sustainable and resilient agri-food systems. At the heart of our mission is the commitment to fostering change and innovation in agricultural systems worldwide. Here's a glimpse into our latest endeavors:

Collaborating with the Wyss Academy in Berne, Switzerland

We've embarked on an exciting journey alongside Wyss Academy, collaborating with a consortium that includes ecos, the Centre for Development and Environment at the University of Bern, Global Infrastructure Basel, and FiBL. Together, our aim is to create transition pathways for resilient and sustainable food systems in three distinct agricultural contexts:

  • Tropical Forests: Preserving the rich biodiversity of tropical forests while enhancing food security.

  • Semi-Arid Landscapes: Tackling the challenges of water scarcity and climate change in semi-arid regions.

  • Intensive Agriculture on Drained Organic Soils: Balancing productivity with environmental stewardship in drained organic soil landscapes.

Our approach is rooted in regenerative principles, emphasizing the pivotal role of local communities in shaping these sustainable food systems.

Impact Assessment in Yunnan, China with the World Resources Institute

Moreover, in the first half of this year, we partnered with the World Resources Institute (WRI) to conduct a comprehensive impact assessment. Our focus was on evaluating the impact of various physical climate risks on several crops in the Yunnan region of China for different climate change scenarios.

Bridging Finance and Climate Resilience

Building upon our research, the WRI has used this data as a critical input to analyze the exposure of agricultural finance institutions in the region. By exploring different climate change scenarios over the coming decades, we have provided the basis to help these institutions align their strategies with emerging challenges and opportunities.

In essence, these projects reflect our unwavering commitment to driving sustainability, resilience, and innovation in the agri-food sector. We believe that by working collaboratively with diverse partners and applying a systemic approach rooted in regenerative principles, we can forge a path toward a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
